Arcade Fire – Sprawl II (Soulwax Remix)

Arcade Fire and Soul Wax …oh hells yeah!

Lyrics:

They heard me singing and they told me to stop
Quit these pretentious things and just punch the clock
These days my life, I feel it has no purpose
But late at night the feelings swim to the surface

‘Cause on the surface the city lights shine
They’re calling at me, come and find your kind
Sometimes I wonder if the world’s so small
That we can never get away from the sprawl

Living in the sprawl
Dead shopping malls rise like mountains beyond mountains
And there’s no end in sight
I need the darkness, someone please cut the lights

We rode our bikes to the nearest park
Sat under the swings and kissed in the dark
You shield my eyes from the police lights
We run away, but we don’t know why

Black river, your city lights shine
They’re screaming at us, “We don’t need your kind”
Sometimes I wonder if the world’s so small
That we can never get away from the sprawl

Living in the sprawl
Dead shopping malls rise like mountains beyond mountains
And there’s no end in sight
I need the darkness, someone please cut the lights

They heard me singing and they told me to stop
Quit these pretentious things and just punch the clock
Sometimes I wonder if the world’s so small
Can we ever get away from the sprawl?

Living in the sprawl
Dead shopping malls rise like mountains beyond mountains
And there’s no end in sight
I need the darkness, someone please cut the lights

I need the darkness, someone please cut the lights

Choir of Young Believers – Sedated

Denmark! Next stop on my musical journey for the day.

Very chilled and very amazing. I went to Copenhagen a few years back and damn if this isn’t a beautiful soundtrack to my memories of that beautiful city .

Reptar – Sebastian

The song reminds me abit of Vampire Weekend obviously with a super different vocalist πŸ™‚

Reptar are signed to Vagrant Records, who is currently the home to: Active Child, Alexander, Alexisonfire, Band of Skulls, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, City and Colour, Craig Finn, Dustin Kensrue, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, The Elected, Electric Owls, French Kicks, The Hold Steady, James Vincent McMorrow, John Gold, J Roddy Walston and The Business, MonstrO, Murder By Death, The Night Marchers, Pete Yorn, PJ Harvey, Placebo, Protest The Hero, Reptar, School of Seven Bells, Senses Fail, STARS and Thrice.

Pretty impressive I’d say. I got alot of love for this band and my depression over not being at SXSW is heightened by missing them playing there. Gutted!

Fanfarlo – Shiny Things

I love Fanfarlo! One of the best shows I’ve seen was them with Freelance Whales opening. Sigh! Miss London shows but SA is getting better. Saw Two Door Cinema Club a few weeks back and soon Clap Your Hands Say Yeah will be here – seen them before at Latitude but they were great.

Happy Wednesday, may my migraine go away and leave behind some lovely music ❀
