I’m playing from 11:30 – 1:30am so that means 2 hours of musical happiness for anyone who decides to drop by 😉
I recently facebooked some of my favourite hiphop songs from when I was going through my hiphop phase at 16, they went down a treat so I’ve got a 30 minute hiphop blast from the past planned. Playing songs like this:
Until I hit some of the best new music out there:
and some classics inbetween:
Free hugs for anyone who comes by and remember if you dance too hard Friday is the following day and if you take the day off you get an extra long weekend
HEARTS ON FIRE!
PS. My life is really great right now and that usually means I dance my whole set – it’s totally worth attending to watch me dance badly 🙂
The usual mix cd’s will be given out to people who remind me they’re in my bag. But very exciting news for people who don’t live in Johannesburg I’ll be making a mixtape for download on my Duchess DJ Soundcloud account.
Dj’ing Thursday at Bob Rocks, times are a mystery to this cake eating lady but here’s a present for you. My favourite song of the day : The Paper Kites – Woodland. It’s so pretty I thought you should be able to download it.
So I’m dj’ing Saturday night with Christian Henn of Vampire 9000/Fulka fame.
It should be epic and amazing. I have absolutely no idea how to dj with someone and then what genre of music we’ll be rocking out to but yay for getting to hang out with my friends and play pretty music.
So I recently got asked to dj a Twee party. I was like WTF is Twee? So I asked Riaan who had asked me to play. He sent through a list of bands and I had an ‘Ohhhhhhh’ moment when I realised I actually listened to twee but was stumped by the genre name. Totally out of the loop as usual 🙂
Flash forward a day or two before the party. Riaan being a sweetheart sends through an email to all the dj’s being super genre specific (I’d probably made him fear my set list), he clarifies the meaning of twee as cute pop to which Ben replies ‘I certainly hope we didn’t ask anyone to play who doesn’t know what twee is’.
Que blush and silent mortification 🙂
It was pretty funny and the night went really well.
